Philly DA demands lawmakers 'boycott NRA' after shootings on crowded street leave 3 dead, 11 wounded

Nine shootings happened night before, killing pregnant woman whose baby was reportedly saved by medical professionals.

Gun violence erupted in one of Philadelphia's most celebrated neighborhoods for nightlife on Saturday night, just a day after nine separate shootings in the City of Brotherly Love reportedly injured at least eight people and killed a pregnant woman.

Three are dead and 11 injured in multiple shootings on South Street around 11:30 pm despite a heavy police presence on the perfect weather evening, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. The dead were identified as Kristopher Minners, 22; Alexis Quinn, 27; and Gregory “Japan” Jackson, 34.

It was just a few blocks from Philadelphia's "Gayborhood," where revelers packed outdoor bars and restauarants on the eve of the city's 50th gay pride parade. "The mayhem appeared to stretch for several blocks, where smashed car windows and knocked-over trash cans were evident," the newspaper reported.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner, controversial for his criminal justice reform policies, called on lawmakers to "[b]oycott NRA lobbyists, boycott NRA donations, and bring real common sense gun regulation to Pennsylvania. Now."

Police say they saw multiple shooters and fired at one who was firing into a crowd with an "extended magazine," eventually recovering two semi-automatic handguns. Surveillance video was released Sunday but police haven't made arrests or publicly identified suspects, though Fox 29 reported one of them is a woman.

The Inquirer said it had "corroborated" cell phone footage online showing two men arguing with a third and then apparently drawing a handgun on him, resulting in a fistfight and then a "volley of gunshots."

A local business owner told the newspaper "it was two guys having an argument" that led to the shootings, while also blaming poor crowd control on South Street, where motorcycles and ATVs routinely drive the wrong way.

Medical professionals saved the baby carried by the pregnant woman who died in Friday night's melee of shootings, Fox News reported.
